Fall has settled in Geneva, NY and it makes the city look more beautiful than ever. Days are definitely colder but we're very lucky to still have bright sunny days and very little rain (ok we've had snow this weekend though...). Sunrises are amazing, I enjoy watching them from my bedroom window or from the lake, it makes me happy when I wake up and I remain in a good mood all day thanks to the blue sky and all the colours. Usually I associate fall season with colder and darker days, rain and weariness. Leaves falling down trees mark the end of summer, long and sunny days and happiness. But since it has started off so well here, I think I had never loved fall season that much... I mean just have a look at these photos!

Pushed by this positive feeling, I've lately felt really motivated to make some changes in my life. Because although I travel a lot and move places every other year, I've always had the same routine (and you definitely need it when you move away to a different country so often). But lately I've decided to change this routine a bit simply in waking up 45mn or one hour earlier than usual everyday. I've always been an early bird and I don't struggle going out of bed in the morning yet I never liked mornings in general because I never had time for myself, I just had time to get ready for a big day and then I started work right away and could only breathe and have some me-time in the evening. Inspired by Elodie, French expat in London (www.lespetitesjoiesdelavielondonienne.com) who started waking up earlier everyday to exercise more and focus on her personal projects, I've decided to do the same. And as I like to do things well, I also read La Magie du Matin by Isalou Beaudet-Regen who talks about the benefits of waking up early and gives advices and techniques to be efficient in the early morning.

So everyday (including the weekend) I wake up around 6.30am and I have an hour ahead of me to focus on myself only. As I've always loved exercising and that I wanted to try something to reduce my stress I've started yoga, 20mn every morning. It relaxes me and helps my body to wake up. I then get ready and still have around half an hour before going to work so I either read or write. And at the weekend I run by the lake, the view is gorgeous so it's the best way to start the day off with a happy mindset.

I've only been doing this for 2 weeks but I already feel the impact it's making in my routine and life – I feel more energised during the day and much more positive and in a good mood. My optimism and motivation have also increased and so I've also decided to exercise more often and I now go to the gym every single day and try to stretch every evening before going to sleep, so my body has changed too. I sleep less but I sleep better because I do more things during the day and my body has accepted the fact that it has to get up at the same hour every morning and it naturally wakes up before the alarm.

I wanted to share this because I genuinely didn't think it would have such an impact in my life and in my way of thinking and viewing things. Never would have I ever thought having an hour more in my day would make me that happy and optimistic. In two weeks I've experience physical and mental changes and it makes me so motivated for the future...
