ABOUT

Hello there,
Behind that chocolatine traveller is me, Emila. Teacher, quiche maker, Drama queen, kitty and puppy enthusiast, Harry Potter worshiper. I was named after my great grandmother and I used to hate my name as a child because nobody knew that name and everyone would call me Emilia or Emilie or Amélie or Amélia,... Back then I didn't realise how cool it was to have such an unusual and original name. Now I feel blessed because it makes me unique so, merci maman.
I was a very shy yet cheerful kid and I'd never let my mom go 50m away without me. I used to never go over a friend's house for a sleepover, I was afraid of people I didn't know and big cities made me very nervous. I had an extremely happy childhood living in a small town by the ocean in the South West of France raised by loving parents. Having a busy father, my parents didn't give me the taste of travelling and adventure but they did teach me to be ambitious and to work hard to get what I want. For a long time I wished to own a house very close to my parents' and in the same town to be able to see them everyday. I'd say I radically changed my mind when I was 17 as I had to give up on my dream to become a professional contemporary dancer due to an injury (and a serious breakdown). I assume I just turned this dream into another one: travel the world and live abroad. So since then I never stop dreaming about it and I worked hard to turn my dreams into reality. And let me tell you everyone, hard work does pay off!

La Chocolatine Voyageuse is going to be about these experiences I'm lucky to live and about my views on expat life in general and everything that it implies.

Oh! Some of you must wonder what on earth is a "chocolatine"... It's simply how we call a "pain au chocolat" in the South West of France (it's more accurate and cuter, isn't it).
