A peaceful weekend in Carlingford

Last November, my parents came to visit me in Ireland. As they're not huge fans of big cities, we decided to rent a car and go on a weekend to Carlingford, a pretty town by a beautiful lake and surrounded by hills.

Carlingford is a mere 2 hours drive from Dublin and is the perfect place when you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and if you like walking / hiking. There are several hiking routes both in the hills or by the lake. We spent two days walking, the first day by the lake and the last day in the forest up the hills. The town centre is lovely too, there are good restaurants and pubs serving delicious typical Irish food.

If you're in Ireland, Carlingford is definitely worth a visit! But careful because as it's full of big mansions and nice restaurants and pubs, it's also very popular for hen / bachelors parties! Fortunately for us, there was no party on the weekend we went there!
